Northwest Medical-No go for United

If you are enrolled in a AARP United Health Advantage Plan, as of today you may no longer be able to see you doctor if they are affiliated with Northwest Health Care. Northwest Healthcare and United HealthCare were not able to reach agreement for a new contract and many Tucsonans will be affected.

The end of the contract results in patients enrolled in UnitedHealthcare insurance plans will no longer be able to use Northwest Medical Center and Oro Valley Hospital, except for emergencies. Additionally, if your doctor belongs to the Northwest Allied Physicians group and Northwest Healthcare urgent care centers, they will no longer be in your UnitedHealthCare network.

The only exception to this is for Medicare beneficiaries who hold a United Medicare Supplement Policy (Medi-gap). They can continue to use the Northwest Health Care physicians and hospital network and be covered by their plan.

Patients receiving ongoing treatment for special conditions, or women in their third trimester of pregnancy, may be eligible for continuation of care benefits.
